What Europe thinks of India? Past, Present and the Future

When Europe thinks about India, it still thinks about caste, curry and corruption. This European image of India has a long history. Let us start with the textbook story of the caste system and dig further into its link with the European ideas about origin and development of religion and what is problematic about it.

Today, in the 21st century, this image of India works as deterrents in our (European and Indian) attempts to understand each other and work together. What can you, as legal students, do about it? How does it affect your research or career? Can Indians and Europeans work together towards a better future?

Let us find out in an interaction with Prof. Martin Farek (Head of the Department) and his team of scholars and teachers from his department (Department for Study of Religions, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Pardubice, Czech Republic).

Present during the session will be Prof. Taranath, Dr. Pavel Horak, Ms. Veronika Civinova, Dr. Dunkin Jalki.

Time: 11.00 to 12.30 on 17 October 2018

Venue: SDM Law College, Mangalore
